Symposium on “National Consultation on Community Media in Maldives” held

Symposium on “National Consultation on Community Media in Maldives” organized by Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) in collaboration with Maldives Broadcasting Commission has been held at Salt Café and Restaurant last Thursday.

In parallel with the Commission’s initiative to introduce community broadcasting in Maldives as stipulated in the law, the aim of the symposium was to educate and create awareness among the relevant stakeholders on the merits of implementing community broadcasting in Maldives. In addition, the symposium served the Commission with the productive input of the participants in formulating recommendations for effective implementation of community broadcasting in Maldives.

Dr. Ankuran Dutta, Program Officer at Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), conducted sessions on community broadcasting related topics at the symposium, which was attended by representatives from state institutions, government authorities, broadcasters and NGOs.
