A three member delegation from Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication met with the Maldives Broadcasting Commission yesterday to discuss the standard digital broadcast technology that will be adopted by the Maldives.
In yesterday’s meeting Broadcasting Commission’s Vice President Abdullah Shujau and Commissioner Ibrahim Ashraf highlighted that the Commission has commenced work to draw up a road map to migrate from analogue to digital technology with the aid of the International Telecommunication Union, ITU. The decision by the Broadcasting Commission on what technology to adopt will be primarily based on the findings of the report to be submitted by the National Road Map team in January 2013. The Commissioners also highlighted that the Maldives Broadcasting Commission will take into consideration such factors as to which technology is most cost effective and most beneficial to the consumers and also what will be the best to be utilized for the Maldives broadcast industry.
In yesterday’s meeting the Japanese delegation shared information on the benefits of ISDBT technology. ISDBT technology is currently being tested by the Public Service Broadcaster, Television Maldives in their process to migrate from analogue to digital
