Mr.Shigeru Aoyagi, Director of UNESCO office, New Delhi & UNESCO Representative to Maldives met the members of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission.

Mr.Shigeru Aoyagi, Director of UNESCO office, New Delhi & UNESCO Representative to Maldives made an official visit to Maldives and requested to meet the members of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission. The aim of his visit is to understand how the Maldives Broadcasting Commission functioned and to understand the challenges faced by the Commission.
President, Vice President and Commissioners and other staff met with Mr. Shigeru Aoyagi and discussed the mandate of the Commission and the current difficulties and challenges to the Commission.
It was highlighted that international assistance is required to train develop people working in this field, the need of consultancy in drafting a legislative framework and the importance of attachment programs to learn the international best practices of broadcasting.
Mr.Shigeru Aoyagi complimented the work of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission. Mr.Shigeru Aoyagi said that UNESCO’s assistance can be granted to the Maldives Broadcasting Commission and to submit a proposal.
