Maldives Broadcasting Commission President Mohamed Shahyb has held discussions with Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development’s (AIBD) Director, Mr. Chang Jin, regarding collaborating in Maldives broadcasting sector development.
At the meeting held at AIBD head office in Kuala Lumpur, Broadcom President briefed AIBD Director on Maldives broadcasting sector, mandates and specific tasks carried out by the Commission for a sustainable development of the broadcasting industry. He also highlighted the importance of capacity building and technical training for broadcasters to accommodate the emerging industry.
In addition, Broadcom President expressed his interest to host AIBD Asia Media Summit in Maldives in the near future. He further went on to say that, by hosting an event of this magnitude, it would serve as a positive factor for the promotion of media services in the country.
Speaking at the meeting, AIBD Director, Chang Jin, expressed his happiness for Broadcom President visiting AIBD and for the initiation in holding Maldives broadcasting sector development discussions. He also said that apart from the assistance AIBD provides to the Commission as an AIBD affiliate member that they would design more training for Maldives broadcasting sector to address the shortcoming areas of the industry. Furthermore, he held discussions with Broadcom President on hosting AIBD Annual General Meeting in Maldives during 2017.
