Awareness sessions for broadcasters commence

Maldives Broadcasting Commission has started to conduct awareness sessions for broadcasters with regard to the role and functions of government offices, independent commissions and NGOs.

The aim of this program is to build relations among broadcasters and other institutions and to create a conducive atmosphere in information sharing to foster ethical and responsible journalism.

On today’s session Transparency Maldives shared information on their role and functions.

Nine institutions are to participate in this programme and share information. Broadcasting Commission has requested judiciary, Parliament, President’s Office, Civil Service Commission, Anti-Corruption Commission, Human Rights Commission, Ministry of Finance and Treasury, Election Commission and Transparency Maldives to participate in the series of sessions to be held every month.

This program organized by the Commission is conducted upon the request of broadcasting stations.
