Commission Discusses Broadcasting Sector Development with British High Commissioner

Maldives Broadcasting Commission members has held a virtual introductory meeting with British High Commissioner to Maldives, Ms Caron Rohsler and discussed ways to collaborate in broadcasting sector development.

Speaking at the meeting Commission President Mariyam Waheeda, briefed the High Commissioner on the mandate and role of the Commission, state of the sector and ongoing sector development projects.

Commission President also noted that most challenging factor affecting the sector development is the lack of professionals working in the sector and the Commission has made it a priority in human resources development and capacity building.

She further shared details of a proposal the Commission intends to submit to British High Commission on broadcasting sector development collaboration.

Speaking at the meeting High Commissioner Ms Caron Rohsler highlighted the work the High Commission is currently undertaking in the Maldives and expressed interest in working together in broadcasting sector development.

Today’s meeting was attended by Commission President Mariyam Waheeda, Commission Vice President Ahmed Gais, Commissioner Ali Yousuf, Acting Secretary General Aishath Shaaheen and International Relations Officer Mohamed Sofwan Ahmed Adhil.
