established and implemented an expedite process to adjudicate complaints with regard to broadcasted content of Presidential Candidates.
Maldives Broadcasting Commission has formulated a special Committee to adjudicate complaints related to content broadcasted regarding presidential candidates and complaints relating to content alleged of Anti-Campaigning. This special Committee consists of the seven members of the Commission and relevant staff.
A total of five complaints with regard to Anti Campaigning have been lodged to the Commission and the Commission has started to adjudicate these complaints.
Maldives Broadcasting Commission has formulated “Guideline on Political Content during Election”. Commission has shared this Guideline with all broadcasters and published on Government Gazette. This guideline was prepared in accordance to International Best Practices in consultation and expertise of American Consultant Terry Anzur.
Maldives Broadcasting Commission urges all broadcasting stations to make use of this guideline in broadcasting political content at this time of political polarization.
