Maldives Broadcasting Commission welcomes the decision of Maldives Police Service to cooperate with Raaje Tv.

Following is the letter sent to the Commissioner of Police Abdullah Riyaz by the Vice President of Maldives Broadcasting Commission, Mohamed Shahyb, folliwng the decision of Maldives Police Service to extend its cooperation to Raajje TV.

“Following the decision of Maldives Police Service to revoke its earlier decision not to cooperate with Raaje TV, Maldives Broadcasting Commission has welcomed this decision of Maldives Police Service to extend its cooperation to Raaje Tv. Maldives Police Service earlier decided to cease to cooperate with Raaje Tv due to news and information broadcasted by Raaje TV reflecting defamation of that institution.

“Maldives Broadcasting Commission will continue to work towards promoting the practice of unbiased reporting and responsible journalism within the limits of the press freedom ensured by the constitution, broadcasting law and regulations.  The Commission further assures that it will not hesitate to work in bring about a conducive and sustainable environment in which all players can work together in achieving this noble objective.”
