Minister of Internal Affairs and Communication makes a courtesy visit to Broadcasting Commission

Mr.Yoshitaka Shindo paid a courtesy call to Maldives Broadcasting Commission this morning. 

Mr. Yoshitaaka Shindo was received and welcomed by the President of the Commission Mr Mohamed Shahyb.

In today’s meeting, Mr Mohamed Shahyb said that a visit of a high level official from Japanese government is a great pleasure and honor to the Commission. He also shared with the Minister the work Commission has commenced to migrate from analogue to digital technology. In this regard he shared the information of the work done with the aid of International Telecommunication Union in formulating a roadmap on digital migration.

Mr. Mohamed Shahyb discussed about the possibility of training opportunities and assistance by the Japanese government to develop the human resources of broadcasting industry and the importance of bilateral relations in developing the broadcasting sector. 

Mr Yoshitaakas Shindos thanked Maldives Broadcasting Commission for the warm welcome given and said that this year marks 45th anniversary for the diplomatic relations between Japan and Maldives. He also expressed the willingness of Japan to work together with the Commission to aid and provide assistance in developing the Maldivian broadcast industry. Discussion was also focused on choosing most suited technology for Maldives in migrating from analogue to digital broadcasting.

In addition to the Minister, Japan’s Ambassador accredited to the Maldives Mr Nobhito Hobo and the visiting delegation participated in the meeting.

Commissioners Mohamed Aslam, Aishath Hana and Secretary General Noora Ali participated from the Broadcasting Commission.

Commemorative gifts were also exchanged between the President of the Commission and the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communication.
