President of Maldives Broadcasting Commission, Mr. Mohamed Shahyb, delivers opening remarks at the inaugural ceremony ofSatellite Knowledge Sharing Workshop.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the one day workshop organized by APT Satellite Company LTD at Traders Hotel, today, President of Maldives Broadcasting Commission, Mr. Mohamed Shahyb said since the inception of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission in April 2011, in addition to its regulatory mandate, emphasis was also given to the development of the broadcasting industry in the Maldives. He further said that the Commission believes competitive delivery media provide the essential backbone to the development of the broadcasting industry as a whole.
Addressing the participants of the workshop Shahyb also highlighted the three vital aspects that are of interest to us while opting for the available satellite providers in our region. Firstly, the coverage of the satellite footprint in our territory; secondly, the provision of the latest digital options; and lastly, the prices of services.
He also called upon the satellite providers to provide the best coverage of its footprint to our entire territory with the enhanced digital options included.
President Shahyb also expressed his hope that APT would continue to increase coverage to Maldivian territories and make the latest technological options available to our broadcasters that would enhance the quality of their services while increasing its affordability. He further said that, he is confident that the workshop will provide valuable insights to its participants in gathering important knowledge on the relevance of satellite technology to the development of our broadcasting industry.
In his speech Shahyb also conveyed his gratitude to the important role played by APT as a partner in providing valuable services to the Maldivian broadcasting industry. He also commended the efforts of the APT, particularly for their noble initiative in organizing this important forum for disseminating the knowledge on satellite technology for the relevant stakeholders in the Maldives.
