Commission commences investigation of the speculations made on media with regard to TVM channel being banned in India

Commission has started to investigate the speculations made on media with regard to the Maldivian public broadcaster channel TVM as being reported banned in India.

Maldives Broadcasting Commission has inquired Indian High Commission upon the allegations made on media with regard to Television Maldives the Maldivian public service broadcaster. Media has alleged TVM is being banned in India in consideration of the channel being a threat to India’s national security.

In a letter sent by the president of Maldives Broadcasting Commission, Mohamed Shahyb, to the Indian High Commissioner D.M Mullay It was requested to clarify whether the Indian government has taken this particular action to ban TVM and if so, what the specific reason for that decision was.
