Members of Maldives Broadcasting Commission participated in the 7th Summit on Media for Children organised by Asia Broadcasting Union, ABU.
President of the Commission Mohamed Shahyb, Vice President Abdullah Shujau and Commissioners Mariyam Shaugee and Moomina Adam participated on this summit held from 8-10 September in Kuala Lampur.
The World Summit offers an important opportunity to evaluate the health of children’s media, focusing on quality content and the role and meaning of education in a globalised media environment and digital technology.
The Summit aims to address issues such as funding quality content, keeping pace with children’s use of technology and the gap between the haves and the have nots. As well as shining a light on children’s media. WSMC7 is aimed at creating a charter of guiding principles and produce practical outcomes for everyone involved in this crucial field.
This is the first time the summit is held in Asia and it provides a great networking opportunity for content producers, broadcasters, media regulators, media professionals and community leaders committed to a positive change in the quality of media for children in our region and the world at large.
