Maldives Broadcasting Commission met GMR Maldives to discuss possible cooperation and assistance in the development of the Broadcasting sector of Maldives. The meeting took place on Thursday at the Administration building of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, Hulhule Island.
During the meeting Broadcasting Commission submitted proposals outlining the areas of assistance and cooperation sought from GMR. The discussions between both parties highlighted issues faced by the Broadcasting Commission in developing the industry. Focused discussions on the need to train broadcast media personnel and the importance of attachment programs for local broadcasters in regional and international broadcast organizations to gain experience in order to promote ethical standards of journalism was discussed.
Mr. Andrew Acquaah Harrison, the CEO of GMR group shared his views and commitment in assisting the Broadcasting Commission to develop the sector. He also acknowledged to the Broadcasting Commissions’ proposition on including Broadcasting and Journalism courses among the annual 10 scholarships given by GMR group to the government of Maldives.
The meeting was attended by the President, Vice President, two Commissioners and staff of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission.
